About Ruth Owen

Devon Dog Behaviour was founded by Ruth Owen to utilise her skills as a behaviour practitioner and a dog trainer. It's aim is the improvement of owners' understanding of their dogs, so that behaviour problems can be at best avoided, or at least diminished. Owners can then enjoy a balanced and rewarding relationship with their dogs. Devon Dog Bevaviour is based in South Devon and covers the South West of England.

Ruth has completed (currently pending) a BA in Canine Behaviour with The Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training – CIDBT, in affiliation with Middlesex University - (the only degree course of it's kind that combines hands on skills with academic achievement). As a full member of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association - CFBA, Ruth is recognised by most pet insurance providers. She is also a member of The Guild of Dog Trainers.

Ruth is the resident behaviour practitioner responsible for the dogs at Animals in Distress Rescue Centre at Ipplepen, and sees private clients for behaviour consultations and one to one training from home. It is her belief that enlightened and consistent training is the underpinning of any successful human/canine relationship. Whilst there are no TV edited quick fix solutions in real life, with understanding and effort, even the most severe problems can be modified to manageable levels over time. Her commitment is to helping you enjoy your life with your dog by learning what is, and is not appropriate in their lives.
